Koalas are listed in NSW as vulnerable – meaning they could become extinct!
It is very sad to have to say that koalas are dying out fast.
The loss of so many of the trees they need to live in has caused them to have nowhere to live and no food. This means they end up down on the ground and crossing roads and getting into backyards with dogs.
There were once millions of koalas and now there are far less than 100,000. No one is sure exactly how many are left because they are so hard to count, but they need our help now.
